What Sets Our Practice Apart

Document-Led Process

Every engagement starts from what you actually have — payslips, contracts, remittance records. We do not work from assumptions.

Thai Revenue Code Knowledge

Practitioners with direct knowledge of Thai Revenue Department procedures, assessment schedules, and the treaty network applicable to foreign residents.

Written Memoranda

Findings and recommendations in writing — something you can read again, share with a board, or file for reference when questions arise later.

Filing Window Availability

We remain available through the relevant filing period so that questions arising close to deadline are not left unanswered.

Client Approval Before Filing

Returns and submissions are shared with you for review before anything is lodged. You see the figures and can ask about any line item.

Foreign Resident Orientation

Much of our client base lives between jurisdictions. We understand the complexity of remitted income rules and double-taxation arrangements as they apply in Thailand.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Do foreign residents in Thailand need to file a personal income tax return?

It depends on income sources and residency duration. A foreign individual who spends 180 days or more in Thailand in a calendar year is considered a Thai tax resident and may be assessable on income arising in Thailand and on foreign-sourced income remitted to Thailand in the same tax year. The rules changed in 2024 regarding remitted foreign income — if you have income from outside Thailand, it is worth reviewing your position carefully.

What documents should I gather before our first meeting?

For personal returns: employment contracts or payslips from Thai employers, withholding tax certificates (Phor Ngor Dor 50 Bis), bank statements showing remittances from abroad if applicable, and any prior-year returns already lodged. For corporate reviews: your draft annual accounts, prior-year CIT return, and a list of related-party transactions or management fee arrangements. We will confirm what else we need after an initial conversation.

How does the VAT registration threshold work in Thailand?

Mandatory VAT registration is required once annual taxable revenues exceed ฿1.8 million. Businesses below this threshold may register voluntarily, which sometimes makes sense for input tax recovery reasons. Whether voluntary registration is worth pursuing depends on the nature of your supplies, your customer base, and whether your main costs carry VAT. We can walk through the practical calculation with you.

How long does a personal income tax engagement typically take?

For a straightforward foreign-resident return with Thai employment income and standard deductions, the process from document receipt to electronic filing is typically one to two weeks. More complex situations — multiple income types, treaty considerations, late or amended prior years — take longer and we will indicate a timeline at the outset once we have seen your documents.

Is my financial information kept confidential?

Yes. Client matters and documents are held in confidence. We do not discuss client affairs with third parties except as required in the ordinary course of preparing and lodging returns with the Revenue Department, or as you expressly authorise. Our engagement letters set out these obligations in full.

What if I have not filed returns for prior years?

Late and amended returns are a regular part of our practice. The Revenue Department has processes for voluntary disclosure, and the outcome depends on the circumstances. We will review what years are in scope, what records are available, and advise on how to address the position in a considered way. It is generally preferable to address gaps before they are raised by the Department.
