About anantarda

Founded for a Particular Kind of Client

anantarda was established on Rama IV Road with a specific purpose in mind: to provide careful, document-grounded tax advisory to the foreign residents and smaller businesses that Bangkok has attracted over the past two decades. That population — retirees, professionals on secondment, consultants working across borders, and entrepreneurs who set up Thai limited companies — tends to sit between the service tiers offered by the large accounting firms and the general practitioners who may not keep pace with Revenue Department circulars.

We occupy that space deliberately. Our practice is neither large nor trying to be. We take on the number of engagements we can handle with proper attention. Returns are reviewed before filing. Memoranda are written by the people who do the analysis. Questions that come in during the filing window get answered promptly because the work is not handed off.

The Thai Revenue Code is detailed and has changed meaningfully in recent years — particularly in how it treats remitted foreign income for resident individuals. We stay current with those changes because our clients need us to, and because we believe good tax advice rests on knowing the current rules, not the ones that applied four years ago.

Our Standards

How We Work

Thai Revenue Department Registration

Our practitioners hold current authorisation to represent clients before the Revenue Department and to submit electronic filings on their behalf.

Client Confidentiality

All client files and correspondence are held under strict confidence obligations. We do not discuss client matters with third parties except as required to complete the engagement.

Document Review Before Filing

Every return or submission is shared with the client for review and approval. Nothing is lodged without your explicit agreement on the figures and positions taken.

Revenue Code Currency

We monitor Revenue Department notifications, Departmental Instructions, and treaty updates throughout the year so our advice reflects the rules as they currently stand.

Written Analysis

Recommendations are put in writing. Verbal assurances are not our method — you receive a document that records what we considered and what we concluded.

Continuing Professional Development

Each member of the advisory team participates in structured CPD programmes covering Thai tax law, international developments, and transfer pricing guidance.

Our Area of Work

Thai Tax Advisory for Foreign Residents and Thai Entities

Thailand operates a territorial tax system with important modifications for tax-resident individuals. Under the Revenue Code, a person who resides in Thailand for 180 days or more during a calendar year becomes a Thai tax resident and is subject to personal income tax (PIT) on assessable income arising in Thailand, and — under rules updated with effect from 1 January 2024 — on foreign-sourced income remitted to Thailand in the same tax year that income is earned. This change, formalised through Revenue Department Order Por 161/2023, materially affects how long-term foreign residents structure their financial affairs.

For corporate entities, the Revenue Code imposes corporate income tax (CIT) at a rate of 20% on net profits for most limited companies, with reduced rates for qualifying SMEs. The code contains specific rules on related-party transactions and the arm's-length standard — an area that becomes relevant when a Thai entity makes payments to an overseas parent or affiliate for services, intellectual property, or financing. Withholding tax on payments to both residents and non-residents is a parallel obligation that requires systematic management.

VAT in Thailand operates at 7% (a rate that has been maintained at that level by successive royal decrees from the standard 10%). Businesses providing taxable supplies in Thailand with annual revenues exceeding ฿1.8 million are required to register for VAT. The mechanics of input and output tax, the treatment of zero-rated exports, and the documentation required to support each position are areas where we help businesses establish workable procedures from the outset rather than reconstructing them under audit pressure.

At anantarda, we work across these three areas — personal income tax for foreign residents, corporate tax planning and filing review, and VAT registration and compliance advisory — maintaining a practice that is small enough to know each client's situation and current enough to give advice that reflects the law as it stands today.
